remote turn on?
remote turn on? hey everyone im going to be installing a simple sub/amp setup in my 04 silverado non bose . i also do not want to have to pull the radio and mess with anything back there im gonna be running a line level converter of the reaers for my left and riright rca's but not sure where i can get a 12v switched source for the amp. can i just go from the fuse box inside? should i run an aux switch? thanks in advance

you can go two ways:
1) get a switch that you can wire inline with the remote turn-on lead that comes from a steady power source, or
2) use a multimeter to find a power source that is switched on/off with the ignition switch (preferred).
in both cases, you don't want to be running a high amount of voltage, just enough to get a signal, such as off the cig lighter or something small like that....you definitely don't want a full 12v or you could fry the amp.

take it from your ign wire ( 12v when car is turned on ) put a relay in the line and run it to your remote turn-on of the amp.

i always was taught to use a relay, it is the safer way of doing things. especially if u are going to be turning on multiple amps. it only cost a few dollars for a relay.
another instance to use it on is, lets say u are running a aftermarket radio and u want to turn on multiple amps, u can burn out the remote turn-on of the actual radio, if u do not use a realy.
i guess it is not that important in your case, but for a few bucks i would use one.
