Removing Radio Console?

Removing Radio Console? Was wondering with a friend of mine, about how you would remove the radio console to put in place an aftermarket console in a 2002 Trans am.
I was thinking that you would have to remove the dashboard panals and from there remove the air conditioning vents and cover for the radio. After that, removing the wires connecting the console to the battery and so on.
Could anyone clear this up for me?
