best amps for the money is BY FAR jbl. look on ebay or on sounddomain.com and you'll never look back. my jbl 1200.1 amp has been in 6 different cars already and now im thinking of taking it out and putting it in my truck cause its so powerful it keeps blowing my subs. i paid less then 250 shipped for it too on ebay. and i know other people who got the same amp and loved it. look around for tuffluck on this forum, he'll vouch for em too

You Dont Blow Subs Cause A Amp Is Powerful.you Blow Them Up From Over Distortion.

The Sub Distorts When The Input Signal To The Amp Is Clipping, then The Amplifier''amplifies'' The Clipped Signal To The Speaker In Turn Making The Speaker Get Hot........ We Run 30000 Watts To A Single 18 Inch Speaker And Do Not Blow It Up.

yeah but its hard to get the gains down perfect, and since its a monoblock amp, distortion is there, and its amplified by alot. i know that power itself isnt gonna blow the speaker, but the intangibles. its more convinent to say the sub blew from too much power, then to talk about distortion and signals and whatever.

This is in correct. Run a distorted signal through a sub for an extended period of time and see what happens.....burnt voice coil

There are alot of reasons a sub would distort. Not only the input but the amp itself or the sub.

Clipping is when a component such as a transistor reaches its max potential and cannot produce any more. The top of the sine wave flattens which is known as clipping. Whats left over is turned into heat which is the number one cause of electrical components

That must be a typo cause I have never seen a 30,000 watt audio amplifier

Its not that hard....

1. First turn your gain on the amp ALL THE WAY down.
2. Turn your head unit a little less then 3/4 of the way up.
3. With the car running, Turn the gain up untill you hear distortion.
4. Back off a little and your gains are set.

Mono block (typically class D amplifiers) do have more distortion but most people cannot hear the unclean sound when below 100hz

i have 2 audiobahn 18001D for my digital designs subs and one audiobahn 6601x for my interiors. the amp are running at .9 ohms each. i compete with them and i do daily driving. they never once cliped or even got hot on me. i won many first place and loudest SPL trophies too.

in my opinion and experience they are awsome. don't know how any of there other model amp preform.

here is a link when all the stuff was hooked up to my Grand Cherokee.

http://www.sounddomain.com/id/sexyvic1

now i began to transfer it all to my 01 tahoe.

If You Have A O'scope You Should Know The Signal Path Too The Amplifier .. You Will See The Clipped Wave..as For Running A Distorted Signal Through Subs For An Extended Period Of Time And You Get A Burnt Voice Coil....no Kidding What Do You Think Goes Bad On A Blown Woofer 99% Of The Time ....

Also No Typo ..we Run 30,000 Watts To A Single 18 Inch Speaker..have You Ever Heard Of Linkable Amps And Quad Coil Sub Woofers.... 3750 Watts X 2 + 4 Voice Coils === 30,000 Watts...also That Is The Loudest Car In The World Period.

Oh Yeah, And By The Way You Set Your Gains On An Amplifier With A Multimeter And A O'scope..if You Don't Have One Go To A Stereo Shop.. No More Blown Speakers

The loudest car in the world is a single 18" sub.... Im not even going to comment on that one.....

SPL is sound pressure level.

The way you get pressure in your car is by moving a peice of paper (a cone) which moves the air creating pressure. It does not matter if you put a million watts into a sub it will still have the same EXACT SPL as one using half the watts moving the same EXACT amount.
The only advantage to running a high wattage amp is durablity and control at higher xmax's or as you know it...linear excursions.
