Default 6.5" sail panels speakers

Does anyone have an awesome 6.5" aftermarket speaker that they've put in their sailpanels? I just did the Alpine swap for the doors in my Camaro, and it sounds awesome. But the 6.5" subs sound horrible and I'm pretty sure I blew one of them. I want more bass, and better sound. These dont need to be top-of-the-line speakers, just a good replacement speaker for me. Lemme know what you got in your cars.

Audiobahn 6.5 mid bass speakers. I put them in mine. They hit very hard. My panels rattle.

Since the speaker swap thread is now locked, I might as well post my question here, I guess...

Since it is pretty much impossible to find the RF or JL speakers suggested in that thread, are there any others 6.5" subs available, or should I just throw a pair of regular 6.5's in there and then possibly add a sub in the trunk?

I already have the SPS-170A's in front and TS-G1017's coming for the rear and I'm not looking to spend gobs of money. Also, I guess I do not have such an experienced ear for stereo sound as 99% of you guys (yeah..., I think the Monsoon sounded good when all speakers were working properly), so all budget-minded suggestions for your average eared guy are appreciated. If I can do without installing a sub in the trunk, that would even be better.

So...?

Do a searh on ebay "midbass or mid bass", as people tend to spell it different. You should get list of them. Also depends on how much you want to spend. The Audiobahns mentioned above I have also, and sound good. I got them for $100 shipped to my door brand new on ebay. I have also seen some good Kickers up there to.

Thanks for the reply.

I did a search on Ebay with "6.5 sub" and looks like there are bunch of stuff for sale for under 20 bucks a pair. I'm sure you get what you pay for with that stuff, though...

Found this
Audiobahn AMD60Q. Would that be something that would work?

What about the mounting depth? The above Audiobahns are 3.5" deep. Would that create any problems?

That is the model I have. They are 1" deeper than stock. I had to do some cutting to get them in there. If you don't want to do any cutting, then find a sub that is only 2.5"'s deep.

How do they sound compared to stock?

And how much did you have to cut?

Thanks for the pics!

Cutting shouldn't be a problem as long as they otherwise fit and sound good enough.

I guess I'll be getting a pair of those, then... Unless somebody else comes with other suggestions.

They sound good. NOT like 10" woofers though.

I had to cut the piece of metal behind the woofer (I have pics at home I can post) to allow for the 1" difference.

I am now going to fiberglass a sub box for an 8" sub in the back and move these to the front doors.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WD1V

these are the same ones correct. same part number.

are the audiobahns easy to install other than the cutting of the metal. the JL's that i had did not want to fit well

and shouldaboughttheZ can you post up those pics of how much you cut from the inside of sail panel. im unclear on how much i need to cut so it will fit.

Thanks 00NBMCamaro for the reminder.
THIS IS NOT 56K FRIENDLY

Ok here it goes.

Here is a side view if the factory sub with a measuring tape to show how deep it is

Here is the Audiobahn AMD60Q side view with the same type of measureing

This is a pic of what you have when you remove the panel in front of the stock sub

After removal of the sub, it will loomk like this

The part with the black lines on it, that is the part I cut

This is after I cut

I can't find where I installed the sound deadner, but might beable to retake those this weekend.

Dumb question, but if I were to buy some, could I just swap em out with the stock ones, with no extra parts?

You will need no extra parts. I know on your trans am yours are dual voice coils. So you will only need to hook up one set of wires.

This is the pin out for the firebird / trans am monsoon amp. THIS IS NOT THE CAMARO MONSOON PIN OUT FOR THE AMP
