Default Just picked up 2 of these (amps)



A buddy of mine just sold me 2 Orion HCCA 250 for $100, I used to love these amps way back in the day, how do you guys think they will fair these days? They havnt been hooked up in a long time. At least think I got a good deal?

Same here!! If they work (couldn't see a 'friend' selling bad equipment) you got a GREAT deal!

They are a great amp period. Should do quite well, but won't have the extras that todays amps have. It sounds like you know what they are so have fun with that nice deal.

As long as they both work, that is a killer deal. In case you don't know, those amps are good for:
50x2@ 4 ohms
100x2 @2 ohms
200x2 @1 ohms
and I think (correct me if I'm wrong) 400x2@ .5 ohms?
I do know the older HCCA amps used to require a "bridging module" to run them in mono, and the newer versions had a switch to bridge them. I can't tell by the pic which ones they are.

Yup. 0.25 stable stereo and 0.5 bridged. Awesome then, awesome now. Was a cheater amp for IASCA comps.

Those HC orion amps are some of the best as far as SLP goes.
Remember running them at quarter/half ohm they need to be cool
