Exclamation *quick* Adding factory keyless entry into a non-keyless 1998 Z28?

If I were to buy the keyless module (P/N:9353691) and a couple of key FOBs (P/N:16245100), could I just plug-and-play it into my 1998 Z28? It has power locks and windows, and everything else for that matter, just no keyless.

Can it be done? I need to know asap so I can get to work on it!

Thanks!

You might also need to buy the wiring connector to hook up the module to, there's three versions and I'm not sure which you'd need: 15305888, 12089527, 12110207

Where does the module reside in the car? I see from the parts manual that it clips into a holder, but where is it?

Thanks!

The Body Control Module (BCM) is located behind the passenger dash below the glove box.

So the BCM IS the keyless entry system? If so, should't my car allready be equipt with keyless, but with no FOB?

Yep, it looks like the BCM is the module used for receiving keyless entry signals

Part# 9353691 = 'Module, Body Cont' with keyless entry
Part# 9353681 = BCM without keyless entry

Aha... https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....43&postcount=2 says "there are 2 bcm's one for keyless, one without."

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....73&postcount=6 says the same, and confirms that it's simple to swap them out.

And here's details of the keyfob programming sequence: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....85&postcount=2

List of everything else the BCM controls: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....1&postcount=14

On my RPO sticker, it lists AU0, which from the manual is for:

LOCK CONTROL, REMOTE ENTRY(KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM)

That "should" mean that I only need a key FOB, right?

Yep, it should! Give the programming sequence a try.
