Default Well I'll be damned... NEW PROBLEM.. NOISE!!! HELP!!!

Good thing I didnt sell my monsoon subs. I removed the fronts and am getting ready to wire up the diamonds with the PPI amp but I thought about checking to make sure the subs still worked. Nope. no sound at all from either. So I bypassed my LOC and hooked up a monsoon again in the front to make sure all was well. Sure enough fronts work fine. No sound from either side monsoon sub. I pulled a panel to make sure they are still there and they are. Havent checked to make sure they are still hooked up or not.

Will the subs, when working, be on the FRONT or REAR when faded? I have tried both and get nothing so far.

Just found this interesting.

I'm confused???? What are you in the middle of doing? Wiring up just an amp to a front set of components?

The subs will work in either position, just will not be as loud.

Oh. So your trying to find out what could be the reason for them not working.

I don't believe they fade out completely when you fade front to rear. Did you just recently purchase the car? Just noticed they stopped working?

Who knows.. and yeah I bought the car in August. Never really listened to see if they were working.

I have a problem now. I hear noise in the speakers when I change tracks. Also have the ugly turn on and turn off thump.

What gives?

I have the amp grounded with the antenna bolt/sanded down good. I have the Scoche LOC grounded twice(maybe this is wrong?) On the input side it says Chassis Ground, on the output side it is another black wire that says speaker - ground?? I grounded both to a sanded down spot with a bolt.

This sucks. I havent started the car yet, i am dreading the engine noise.

Unground the "speaker-ground". That is meant for common ground speaker systems. Usually found in Older vehicles ('76/'75 and older).

The bumps can be caused by the Amp not being on before the LOC is.

I'll give it a shot in a minute. This is taking forever. Started around 2:30. Still going. Couldnt find a plae to mount my tweets. So for temp I am putting them slightly angled off the sail panels. Not very good imaging but good enough for temp until I make some 'glass sails.

How often does this happen when installing.. not often... passenger side crossover mounted...Fit like a glove on that side. See attachment

Ok not happy at all. Completed the install. Sure enough, upon startup serious engine noise. I can even hear the interior map and dome lights dim through the speakers.

Any ideas?

And for help troubleshooting. My power wire is ran down the passenger side to the amp. My LOC is right before the Monsoon amp and grounded to the side of the chassis there. My RCAs are ran kinda near the power wire but i've never encountered this much interference b/c of this. The RCAs are Lightning Audio. I dont believe they are shielded. The amp is grounded at its own sanded bolt about 2 feet away.

Try to issolate which component is making the noise. I'd start by unplugging the RCA's from the LOC. That probably where it starts.

This is a passive LOC? If so then Try disconnecting the Chassis Ground.

To issolate the After. Amp; Disconnect the RCA's.

Cable; replace

LOC; ??? above

I'm thinking Ground loop. Eaither Amp or Where the components are located. Could be touching the wiring

Since you disconnected the preamp side and you still get the noise.
I would bet that the problem is a wire grounding out between the amp and the actual speakers. It could be that one of the wires is grounding on the basket or it could be as little as one strand crossing over to cause feedback/interference back into the amp.

Trace the wire and make sure it is not pinched and in good shape. Pay attention to the actual cross over itself, I have seen where wires touch there.

But why are my monsoon subs not working? I see 2 12volt sources go into the Monsoon amp... where are they fused?

E11 and E12

I am about to officially throw in the towel. I cant get the noise to go away. I thought my components were blown b/c they just sounded a little funny with all the noise in the system so I removed the speaker wire from the amp and plugged them directly into the rear fill's + and -. Sure enough.. crystal clear, can get loud, no distortion, and very bright sound.

Are the rear fill speakers powered directly off the deck? I am thinking they are since they are 4ohm.

I gave up with the amp for now. You guys that are following this thread... 2Much and Rich... I bypassed the monsoon with the Gray and Tan (E2 and E3) directly powering the Left Components. I then powered the right side components with the Dark Green And Light Green (E1 and F1) directly to the input. From there I spliced it all together (see attachment)so they are still feeing the monsoon so signal input just incase my subs ever want to work again.

I have to say this without exageration. The components sound GREAT. They get loud without distorting, they have good bass. I'm sure they might sound a little better with the amp but honestly I am very happy with the improvement over the stock fronts. I would suggest all the people with the Alpine Coax upgrade do this since the deck uses 4ohm. If it can power my Diamond components it sure as hell can power the Alpines.

We can make a new topic if you agree with me about this.

Alright. I'm glad you got things working again, althought it's not what you were going for.

Sorry I didn't get back with you when I said I would. Got cought up at the Hospital Way longer than it should have.

I'm still going over everything we had discussed. The problem is there somewhere. Does the rest of the monsoon work?

I'll Pm you with a list of things to check. I would like to see it start working like it should.
