sound system for $200?
if you intend to upgrade everything to a full aftermarket system (which is what i'd HIGHLY recommend), i'd expect to pay more in the neighborhood of around $800 - $1000, if you want to get some pretty decent stuff. the items below are just examples, but are pretty much the minimum level of components i would buy (and you may be able to find them cheaper elsewhere):
Your choice of Head unit: $150 - $300
Polk Audio Front Component Speakers: $200
MB Quart 4 Channel amp: $250
Infinity Reference 10" subwoofer: $60
Miscellaneous items (RCA cables, speaker wires, subwoofer box materials, fuseholders & fuses, power/ground wires): $100 - $125
Sound-deadening Material: $50 - $100
and that's if you do all the work yourself....expect to add another $200 - $300 to have it all installed by a shop...maybe more.
keep in mind, you can probably get cheaper components, but in my opinion, if you're gonna do it, do it right the first time......if you don't, you WILL be spending more money later on, either when something fails, or when you're not happy with the sound. spending the extra money may take longer to save up for it, but i guarantee that it will be well worth the wait to have it done right......
