JL Audio
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My daughter has a new Pontiac G6. She's thinking about replacing the door speakers with JL CSI 6.5's, crossovers and pod tweeter along with the JL 300/2 amp. Any opinions regarding the JL stuff would be helpful. Thanks.
On a side note:
Hey JL, how 'bout hookin *US* up for all the free advertizing here, huh??

obviously, the vehicle's acoustics are going to make them sound a bit different than they do in the showroom, but you can at least get a general idea of how they sound. the main thing to listen for is any harshness in the tweeters. if the tweeters are really harsh sounding, it can screw up the whole sound that you are trying to achieve.
some other brands i would recommend giving a chance are Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, Infinity, Polk, Diamond, & OZ Audio. obviously a component set will give MUCH better results than coaxials, so i would recommend sticking to the component sets only.
but if she more or less has already decided on JL Audio, i think that she will be really happy with them, they are one of the leaders in the car audio industry, constantly bringing innovations to the scene. well worth the money spent on them, if you ask me.....
In any, case thank you everyone for all your advice.
And a special note to snowdevil. You are evil.
The remainder of my boltons go in tomorrow: MTI TB, smooth bellows(for looks) and an LS6 intake. After that it's time for dyne tune and a major decision: H/C or 60" LCD TV.
Or now JL stuff in the TA.
it depends on how you hook them up. if you have each sub on its own amp, just wire a switch inline with the remote turn-on leads so that you can turn any one (or all) the subs off/on as you see fit. that way, you can run with only 1 or 2 on for normal listening, and all 3 for "***** to the wall" bass.
if you run all the subs off a single amp, just make sure that you have a remote bass control of some sort (some head units have them built in, and some amps have an optional external bass control module that you can connect to adjust the bass output) and you should be ok.
In any, case thank you everyone for all your advice.
cool, i think she'll be happy with the setup. are they going to sound deaden the doors also? that will help bass output a lot, without the rattles.

[/QUOTE]If you decide to upgrade/replace the speakers in your TA, make sure you spend a couple of extra dollars, as mentioned above, and Dynomat the doors. It will deffinately make your components perform/sound better. It's tough making decisions like that
!!! Good luck!!!
