My friend has a 98 chevy ext cab. Were building him a system this summer. A budget is on the line im not sure how much just need a clean nice all around system.

We have the sub bought Image Dynamics IDQ12 D4 v.2 dual 4 ohms 12" sub

i think this is the amp were gonna go for the sub JBL BP600.1

what kind of door speakers should we go with? Alpine? Pioneer? Sony?

I have alpine in my truck and love them just he dosen't want to spend alot just something thats going to sound nice.

While I personally agree with the above statement, I would recommend having said friend listen to as much as possible, and decide from there. Everyone hears things differently, and what appeals to one may not appeal to another.

That's what matters - it's his ride and his coin, so it's him that's gotta be happy with it. I'd try to talk you/him out of anything junk, but that doesn't seem to be the case here, so you're on the right track!

NOpe - no junk listed! That's my point. If you had mentioned some off-brand or something like Jensen or something, I'd have warned you to stay away. But everything listed is stuff I wouldn't mind having in my car, so you're doing fine. I know what you mean about wishing he'd duplicate your setup, but my guess is that he'll spend a few bux on some decent stuff, and then compare it to yours. He will then be making another 'upgrade' when he hears the difference. That's why I always recommend that people listen to as much as they can before they spend anything. You having stuff installed makes a great demo vehicle, because it will ALWAYS sound different in a car than it does in the store's sound-board.

thats exactally what im thinking. This is his first system so he is probally going to upgrade. I want him to get a real badass amp so he has something to work off of so he dosen't have to upgrade amps later on but oh well.

This all depends on what budget you are working with. Why buy a great sounding sub like an IDQ if you are not going to buy a good sounding amp and components to go with it?? What headunit are you guys thinking about running? I have been doing this stuff for a long time (14 years professionally) and I would be more than happy to stear you in the right direction. The enclosure you build is very important in that truck to actually get the 12 to play low like it should. Also, I would recommend a good 4-ch amp with around 100 watts per channel RMS power. Use it in 3-ch mode and run the factory rears for rear fill. A good set of componet speakers in the front and a nice headunit and he will be all set. Also, buy some sound deadener for those front doors, they will need it to get good midbass response. Let me know if you have any questions.
