Default 20k+ mcd LEDs

Well I got bored at about 11pm when I went out to my car and for the 8000th time realized all but 1 of the 4 lights that make up the ASR and Fog toggles on my dash were out. So I popped out the soldering iron, 4 560ohm resistors, and 4 20k+ mcd LEDS.

I am now happy to report that looking directly at my toggle switches will leave you temporarily blind

You can't really tell, but I also replaced the crappy little light that comes in the sport-comp autometer temp gauge with a 20k+ LED too so it now glows a nice bluish white color instead of cheap yellow.

Now I will sleep.

Nice!

BTW, where did you get such high-output LEDs?

I got them from a supplier in Hong Kong via ebay.. like $15 for a pack of 20 (pretty good price considering the only ones i've seen in stores are like $2 each)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...517720494&rd=1

They only take like a week to get from Hong Kong to my house

6.4 cents a unit is a very nice price.......
but I dont have $7900 lying around. What would I do with 50,000 20K MCD LEDs anyway unless I was going to resell them or mass produce something.

Nah not unless you stare into them

But honestly for most of the places in the car they are awesome because they are covered, and the glow is what lights stuff up. If you replace the lights in the toggle switches with them, you might want to put something over the LED lens to darken it a little, mine are EXTREMELY bright and if you are in the back seat when my fog lights are on at night and look at them, you see spots :\
