Default replacing monsoon

I'm getting ready to replace the monsoon. I'm just replacing the door speakers and the sails, I'm gonna disconnect the rear fill. I think I made my mind up for front components, Alpine SPR-17LS. I'm just having trouble finding mid bass speakers, I'm leaning toward Alpine type X mid bass but are there any other mid bass speakers worth looking at. I already have an amp picked out and I have an aftermarket head unit, I'm just looking for some suggestions on mid bass speakers.

I'm also thinking about a component set in the doors and a sub in a stealth box in the rear. I want to use a 4 channel amp with 2 channels up front and bridge the other 2 channels for the sub. All suggestions on what hardware i should use is welcome.

so you want componets in the doors and only midbass in the sails, you dont think the bass would overpower the highs? what type of amp are you looking at? i have a ma audio m489i and i love it it can push 100rms at 4 ohms and 200rms at 2 ohms and its a 4 channel

Those type R component speakers are a hefty set. Each speakers weighs in at about 5 lb.

I listened to them at a store and they sound pretty good, but after actually holding one, I'm a bit skeptical about putting them in.

I myself will probably end up going with the type X as those weigh ~ 3lb each.

Btw, depth wise, the type R fits perfectly with no cutting of the factory bracket.

Any of you install the type R components in the front have issues with them loosening after a while or other issues because of the weight?

thats perfect, the last 2 systems i installed were just a set of components up front with crossovers and one sub in the rear. u can use a 4ch for that, but 2 seperate amps that are dedicated to a sub and one to the speakers would be best. i also upgrade all the speaker wire, i dont use the stock wires. just a set of components and one sub might sound weak compared to the "6 speaker monsoon stereo" but its more then most people will ever need. hi fonics makes great budget amps. for components, most sound similiar that are priced the same.

z28_99jm,

What speakers did you end up going with?

I have the type X up front (spr-177r), and a stealth box in the back with a 10". The sound is good, but I'd like more sound behind me. I'm considering the spr-17ls for the sail panel speakers (run off a second amp).
