I mounted mine above the mirror and used the Valentine straight cord through all of the trim and wired it into the ignition. Then mounted the hidden display...

damn those mounting places are badass, you see the only problem i have is that i have a cobra 360 deggress radar decotor and the front of it has to be pointing out the back of the back window in order for it to work right for the 360 degress so i couldnt do that but how would i get that front dash piece off?

How did you mount that inside the mirror?

Well technically the valentine one's that were shown have rear radar too...and it has to be able to see to correctly display the arrows that tell you the source of the radar, it won't triangulate a source if it can only see from one direction.

2MuchRiceMakesMeSick, by putting your detector up in the headliner, won't you lose some signal due to the upper part that is tinted? I'd put mine in the same place, but when you spend $400 to get a decent radar unit, you don't want its protection to be compromised; I would think that the tint has to cut down on its visibility some.

Ive got the Passsport X50 8500 and have it hardwired along with the remote mount display in the speedo cluster.

The detector is above the rear view. Kinda tricky to see in the picture, but it's the best one I got.

And then this one shows the remote display. This way I don't have to hear it going off when the stereo is blazing, It just flashes a red light at me when it detects something.

THe way that radar detector has to work is you have to run the wires from the actual detector to the remote display and then hardwire the display. So the wires to across the head rest down the a-pillar and then up to where the remote setup is mounted in the speedo. Then because it's such a low current device, I used the 12V switched (red) and ground (black) off of the stereo since it was right there and close by and I knew what wire did what. It turns on and off with the car and I still have the cigarette lighter piece to use when I take it into other cars.

The lamp wires aren't on a 12V switched source like you need. You need to find a 12v switched source for it to work correctly.

mine is mounted above the rear view. i ran the wires down the a pillar into the fuse box. then i pulled out the fuse box and tapped into one of the wires (i forgot which one). so it turns on when the car is on, and off when the car's off.

If you have an aftermarket CD player in your car it's very easy. Red wire is 12v switched and black of course is ground. Run it across the headliner, down the a-pillar, back to behind the deck and you are all done.

If you don't have an aftermarket player, get out the test light and start figuring out what wire does what.
