Satellite radio (XM or Sirius) in-car hookup question...
I'm sure this question applies to both XM and Sirius users...
I've been using my satellite radio in my 2000 TA for a week via the FM Transmitter and I was wondering if there is a way to use a direct hookup (like with the home units using an RCA cable) to connect the satellite receiver to the car's stock radio. I would think so, using the same kind of hookup that is used with the home unit, but I wanted to check with someone who has done this before I rip my radio out and start looking for the plugs. I'm running the stock radio head unit in the car.
Thanks for the help!

The stock Monsoon heanunit does not have RCA AUX Input.
You need a GM9-AUX adapter to convert the CD-Changer port to RCA AUX-IN.
Read my post in the first thread above for more details.
Does your Sirius unit have RCA or 1/8" outpout?
If not, then you need to buy the appropriate adapter to get RCA output from the Sirius unit.

Thanks for the info.
I've actually got the Tao XM2go unit, so it looks like all I'll need is the GM9-AUX piece, which I just ordered, and an RCA cable. Thanks for the help.

I do have one more question (probably a dumb one and maybe getting ahead of myself). Once everything is in, how do I switch over from the radio to the "12 disc changer / new RCA-XM radio" to listen to the XM? Just hit the "CD" button? Or once power is running to the XM unit it'll switch over automatically? Thanks for the help.
Oh yeah, if you could offer any help on how the stock radio comes out so I can install the plug, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again!

As far as switching over, I don't know as I've never played with the stock deck (never had one).
Removal I do know somethign about though Just get a flat head screwdriver and the plastic trim around the stereo and A/C controls comes out. I pry right in the middle down the passenger side of the panel and then to the middle of the other side. There are four clips. One at each corner.
Once that is off, it's pretty obvious how it comes out. They are 3 7mm bolts. Pull those out and your stock deck will have two harnesses and the antenna going into the back of them. You should be able to slide it out and see these and disconnect them and the deck will come out. I replaced two stock ones for people last week, so it's still fresh on my mind

To switch to the satellite radio just press the CD/Play button twice. The first time will switch to the indash CD player if a CD is inserted and the second press switches to the external CD changer or whatever is plugged into that port (in your case the GM9-AUX and satellite radio). Bear in mind that the 2000 model wasn't capable of connecting to both a factory changer and another device - if you have a factory changer you will have to disconnect it. 01 and 02 models added the ability to have both connected.

Thanks for the info WhiteBird. I figured as much, but it's always good to ask I don't have the factory changer (or any changer for that matter) so it won't be a problem hooking just the XM radio in. Thanks for the help!

Sorry, I'm a little late responding but Whitebird00 covered it.
Press "CD/Play" to cycle through the inputs.
I made a small video of how to remove the bezel and put it back on:

I basically started at the top middle. When that part pulled away slightly (the clips havent budged yet), I slide my fingers left and pop off the left corner and work my way around to pop off all four corners. After the bezel is off, the headunit is held in place with 2 or 3 small bolts.
