So you popped off the speaker netting/grill and it still rattles? You need to find out were the rattle is coming from and go from there? How close is the magnet to the car? Looks like the speakers have the whole in the magnet, believe there is air coming out of there as well when the speakers move, maybe the air/vibrations is causing the rattle? Just a thought..

Yeah it still rattles with the grilles off. It seems like the plastic center piece of the speaker is hitting on the rear side after being pushed out to make the sound. Could the magnet being too close to metal cause this problem? There should be plenty of room to for the air in the rear hole of the speaker. Thanks for the thoughts.

Have you tried to pull the sail panel away from the speaker and see if it stops the rattle?

If it does you would need to find a way to keep the panel away from the speaker

Yeah I tried that already. Unfortunately it's not something in the car rattling, it's the speaker itself.

I don't have the rockfords. The deal with the rockfords fell through. The ones I got are from Elemental Design.

Now thats the first problem I'v ever hear about the EU's. Even though it rattles, does the bass notes hit better than factory?

They hit harder than factory speakers do. But they rattle constantly. Even turning the volume down you can still hear it.

Hmm sorry to ask so many questions but I'm really trying to figure out what the deal is with the speakers.

When you shake the speaker does it sound like something is moving around in the magnet?

It doesn't sound like there is anything loose in there. I can't figure out why there both having the same problem. I guess I'm gonna have to do like Josh_101 said and exchange them and see how the new set does.

blue,

If at all possible give me a call at the office at 319.665.6350 or email me a good time to give you a call if calling long distance is a problem. (My email is bmilne@edesignaudio.com).

We'll go over anything in the vehicle that could be making a noise. If there is any question that the speakers may be misbehaving. We will replace them free of charge.

I look forward to speaking with you.

Best Regards,

Ben Milne

I got a pair of these speakers but decided to go a different route. From what I can make of Elemental's return policy, I can't return them since one is opened, so if someone's interested in these, pm me. I may post in the FS forum.

Edit: Now in FS forum

Hey Ben it's great to see you over here on LS1tech.com. FYI, I'm also the same screen name over on ICIX.com.

I may have to talk to you about doing a complete ED setup in my trans AM, possibly a 6500 for the fronts, and a pair of EU700's for mid bass all powered by a NINe.4.

FYI, I love my NINe.2X
