you have a bulb out on the right side... either the front or the back

If none of them come on then all are burned out. Usually they will come on but not flash so it's easy to walk around the car to see which one is burned out. You can also turn on the hazard flashers so that all the working bulbs will flash then look for the one that doesn't.

start with replacing the back, much easier to get to then the front.

the front aren't really hard to get to from under, but the backs are cake

Why replace bulbs unless you know they're burned out? Start with replacing the bulbs that are burned out.

OK, I'm getting confused here. Perhaps you should start from the beginning and tell us which lights work and which don't. I thought only the right side turn signals weren't working. If that is the case then the hazard flashers should work everywhere except on the right side where the bulb is burned out. The turn signal light and the hazard lights are the same units so your statement that the hazards don't work but the turn signal comes on and doesn't flash is confusing.

Sounds like BOTH bulbs on the right side are burned out. It's not the switch because you wouldn't see the dash light if it wasn't working. It's also not the flasher because the same flasher does both sides and your left side works. It could be the sockets are corroded or damaged preventing the bulbs from lighting although this usually only happens on the front (the rear sockets are protected from moisture inside the hatch area).
