Default What radar detector do you prefer?

I just got an escort passport 8500 x50 for my b-day on sunday and couldn't be happier with it. A lot of my friends have the valentine 1 and I wasnt all that impressed by it. I could be wrong, but mine seems to work just as good if not better. I dont think the arrows are worth the extra $100, the passport does tell you what direction its comming from with different sounds. Not like I care where its comming from, im ganna be hittin the brakes anyways.

Lemme know what you guys think about the two, or if theres another one you like better.

I used to have a nice Bel 915R remote mount... but that lasted all of 2 winters... (external mount must have gotten water in it and then froze over winter)

If i were in the market for a new one I'd prolly get a Valentine 1 ... but 3+ years now w/out a radar detector and no speeding tickets (knocks on wood) ... so it's not a high priority

V1 HANDS DOWN! The arrows do make a huge difference because you can tell when you pass them etc. There is nothing better on the market than a V1 Period!!

Just found this, http://www.radarbusters.com/support/product-tests/2.asp looks like the valentine 1 is only better on the X band by 1/10 of a mile, the rest are identical.

Also, because you cant turn off the POP mode in the 1.8 version it has a lot more false alarms. Check out the filtering test results. http://www.radarbusters.com/support/product-tests/3.asp

BTW, the Beltronics RX65 is the exact same thing as the Passport 8500 X50, but it can talk and it has Ku band, which is used in europe and will be used here by 2006, but in very small quantities. Escort upgrades your X50 with this for free anyways, so lets just asume they are the same on all levels.

None...

I ran a radar detector for 4 years, and got 6 tickets with it.

I've been without one for the last 3 years, and I have not gotten ONE speeding ticket.

A cop will give you a ticket no matter what if he see's you have a radar detector, your chances are a lot better getting let off without one.

I got the beltronics and really like it.

Works spot on in the country, really lights up when the smokies are around with enough warning for me to brake.

Arrows would be nice though, because you don't know when you passed the cop or not.

I like my Escort 8500, I've used Escort for years 1984 or so (since they were the size of a book) and have gotten a total of 1 ticket, tho now that Escort has been bought (sold to) Bel, I'm considering a V1 (made by the same guys that made the Escort years ago) I dunno if the arrows are worth the extra $100 or not.
Between Escort and Valentine, it's more of a case of what you like rather than a drastic difference in performance

Which is the most imformative? That is the only question you need to ask.

V1 by the way was my choice and I have converted many.

I'm gonna get a V1 eventually...

keep in mind, the guy that runs the radar site has some vandetta out against the guy from V1, I read their like enemies or something...

also, notice he sells every radar detector except the V1... hmmmmm... He wouldnt have anything to gain by making the others look better would he (You learn when doing research that anyone selling a product cant be used as a valid source )
