Default Route for Amp wires through Firewall?

Ok,

I am starting my sub installation and I was just wondering the best route to take for my power wire to get through the firewall?

Thanks

there is a grommet on the passenger side of the car. you will have to remove the computer in the engine compartment to access it. Also, check FAQ's, I'm pretty sure there is a write up for installation.

or just stick wire through from the inside til somebody can grab it from under the hood. Thats how i did it, no pcm removal necessary.

To the OP,

As you're standing towards the front of the car on the passenger side facing the rear sight down at the back end of the engine compartment.

Wow! Thanks Guys...
I decided to do a lot of work on the new t/a tonight. I buffed and polished her, and decided to customize a new set of t-top headliners so you dont have to pull the t-tops off every time you want to look through the glass.

I will start the amp and sub install tomorow. Either way I will be going through the gromet on the passenger side. I am not a big fan of taking out the PCM because it looks like you will have to disconnect the connections on the PCM to take out the computer. Either way ill figure it out.

Thanks Again!

Ill keep you posted...

It's not necessary to disconnect the PCM - just unbolt it and swing it out of the way with the wiring harness still connected.

Cool One better on the routing of the power wire

Hello ....

I have been doing stereo's for a long time and because of "FIRE" risk...I never take the power wire thru the passager area

I do the less then 18" from postive battery to a fuse..then to a lighting audio relay...from there I run the wire down the frame rail on passager side under the car back to the drain hole of the rear quarter panel and into the trunk or hatch area...also cover the power wire with the BLUE water proof loom you can buy at home depot seal all with sealer at the connection's ....when all run loose ....I go back and wire tie it to the frame by drilling holes if need be and looping the ties

judges have loved the ideal and it has scored high in safetly points

This is kind of off topic, but make sure you run your RCA cables on the opposite side.. sometimes you can get noise if they run on the same side

it is suggested to run power and audio cables on separate sides. my power cable is run on my passenger side and my audio cables and remote on wire are on my driver side. im no expert, but with the new high quality shielded audio cables out there now, interference with the power wire shouldn't be as big of an issue
