Default opinions on these amplifiers?

click me

I have 2 SL7 solobaric 12" subs, and after a recent disaster using kicker amps, I'm on the market again for something to push these.

The amps I was looking at are the 8.0:1 x2 (1 per sub) - and the 8.0:4 - x1 (speakers)

or maybe the 15.0:1 and a set of the OR 12's

I'd love for everything to match brand and PG is good stuff. I just wanted opinions first, reason I'm considering switching to the OR's is because I've had someone wanting to buy my solobarics for awhile, and I've had alot of problems with them - along with the fact everything would match now
comments, questions, suggestions, opinions?

hehe

PG makes great amps. I don't think you will be disappointed. I used to run the old ZX series and they performed unbelievably well. They tend to be underated too, so be sure to keep that in mind.

Yeah I've had PG amps before and I loved them. Thats why I'm looking at them now.

I'm actually considering swapping out the solobarics (as I have a friend local who's interested in them) for some of the PG subs, they aren't rated as high in power handling, but are right about what i was pushing into the solobarics anyway.

any thoughts?

I remember PG was one of the best car audio manfacturers out a few years back, but lately I have been hearing some bad things about the new stuff. I haven't used any so can't get specific, but a higher end car audio place in my area stopped carrying the line due to too many problems.

Why the PG subs? What kind of performance are you looking at getting from the subs? SPL, SQ, or SQL? IMO, there are better options out there.

PG underrates everything somewhat, and the ones im looking at are rated at 700w. if they underrate them at all thats still gonna hit pretty damn hard in my new setup.

Once i finish matting everything.

With PG you will want to use the Xenon series. They are the better of the two series. Better parts are used to build.

heh

problem though, the xenon series 12" subs are rated at 900w, where as the 2 highest PG xenon amps are 600w, and 1200w. That means I'd have to buy 2 1200 watt amps to push these things to the max (since theres no direct rating there)

Phenoix Gold builds a tough amp and great sound quality (except for class "D" lines)

pg amps = very good. oft underrated.

pg everything else (Except processors) = very meh. i'd rather spend my money on other stuff. the question is, what is your budget?

I don't really have a budget.

but I recently heard a bunch of PG gear, and it all sounded awsome, some of the best SQ I've ever heard.

So thats why im considering replacing everything with PG, with the exception of my focal speakers.

i've got a PG tantrum 500.2 amp pushing my jl10w6 and i just bought a xenon 200.2 to run my new CDT HD-62 components. the tantrum is a badass amp, and ive heard nothing but good things about the xenon line (other than some people who disliked the looks of them, which i think is odd because i think theyre a badass looking amp)

I agree.
I've decided to go with the xenon line

now the next question is do a take a single 1200.1 to power both my xenon 12's or do I get 2 :/
