interior power question

interior power question ok i recently got a xm radio roady2 and an radar dector for x-mas.
and they both came with cigrette lighter power hook ups... and i dont want just wires and plugs layin around every where (im a neet freak) and was wondering if it would be ok to hard wire the radar dector in to my car(with an inline fuse of course) i dono if ill be able to do it with the xm radio or not because the conector converts it from 12v to 6v as well..so ill figure out something

Both of those things should be of low enough power draw to tap off the head unit wiring.
I'm not sure about the XM wiring but the radar detector for sure will work - ground and switched 12V - so it comes on automatically with the car power.

You could also use the RAP wire that goes to the radio to power the lighter plug I mentioned, that way you can still have the XM (until the radio goes of or you open the door) then use the TCS power wire for the radar detector I wouldn't reccomend putting both on the same wire (might start blowing fuses, might not )

i got a volt meter so ill check everything..even with it powered up to make sure im getttin the right volts...and i know its 6v..im got a female lighter socket with two wires comin out if it im goin to attach in the dash and just have it hooked up like its supose to be but hidden in the dash..so i dont have wires hangin every where..im a neat freak!
