Default All 4 head lights on at once

I seem to remember awhile ago a post showing how to have all four headlights on at once when you turned on the highbeams....

anyone know how to do this or wher the post is?

4 screws under the drivers side dash allows access under the steering column. Look down the left side of the steering column and there is a white switch with a brown plug and 2 black tabs. Squeeze black tabs and pull the connector off. Make a connection between the large tan wire and the large yellow wire and put everything back together...

so instead of doing all the stuff on the web page, we can just put a jumper wire between the large tan and large yellow?

just note that this is usually against the law in most states, not that we are the crowd that goes by the law too often though...

There is a painless wiring harness that you simply tap into our factory headlights and it keeps all four on. I cannot remember the part number but i will look for it. I have it on my car and it has worked for 4 years now. It is not sold for our cars but for a 1988-1994 chevy truck i think.

in IL its illegal to have more than 4 headlights on, so the brights and lows would be ok, but if you had the brights/lows/fogs on then its illegal, but really who keeps the brights on when theres a car driving at them

the laws vary by state, i think in my state if the high beams are on the foglights and lows cant be on. lots of stupid lighting laws i was reading a while ago, like no vehicle not even police can have more than one spotlight. stupid ****. but in this situation if thats the IL law there is nothing ot worry about.

i talked to a state trooper, his words were, all the law says is there can be no more than 4 headlights on at once

but i still stand by the idea, if theres another car coming at you, turn the brights off, and wheres the problem

Actually, most states that have restrictions on front lights use the same "only 4 lights" law - including Maryland. Look at a Firebird - when you switch on highbeams all four headlights are on but the fog lights go off automatically. States aren't allowed to make laws that differ from federal standards because then car manufacturers would have to make different setups for different states.

Actually, it would be legal in Maryland to leave the fog lights on as well as all four headlights because the four light restriction there only applies to lights that produce at least 300 candlepower (and we all know the factory fog lights are nowhere near that powerful). (Section 22-226)

BTW, according to Marland law section 22-217 (only one spotlight may be used) paragraph (d) exempts all emergency vehicles from the requirements. I guess that would include police vehicles. (I thought I'd look while I was checking the four light statutes)

You mean like California's emissions laws?

Good point! However, federal emission standards are controlled by the EPA rather than the Vehicle Code and don't include provisions restricting states from enacting tougher laws.

Actually there is a really simple way to do it.

Strip a wire on both end, remove one of the fuses in the fuse box located in the engine bay and place the wire in it.....Did it when I 1st got the car, but since junked it because I really didn't give a **** about it....sorry can't help you any further as to which fuse it is or how the wire goes in but it worked

It does only list it for trucks, however on note # 2 it says "For other GM applications contact our tech line."
