Blew a speaker what to do *tried search*
I had a speaker blow today
I wasn't cranking it or anything but its dead now I never really blare my tunes but I like them mid to loud. I have a 99 z28 with monsoon the speakers all sound great other then the dead one lol.
I just paid for all my school and books soon so I'm pretty low on funds I am not a audiofile in the car but I do like good system the monsoon was just right for me.
I've read about the alpine speakers and I want to know because I can't afford to get a full set just replace the front pair, how will sound be effected?
I'm not ruling out upgrading all and even maybe upgrading H/U amp sub etc but this would all be in time as I want to handle better go faster first.
What would you guys who know what to do do in my shoes? Thanks a ton!

Well, don't know if it the best way ...
But I changed out the 2 front speakers in my '99 SS right before Christmas.
Fairly easy, and they were like $ 83.00 each thru the dealer.
I was lazy, and these were a "plug & play" option.
If you have a junkyard around you might find some for cheaper, but being used they would have to be waaaaaaay cheaper , IMHO.
Good Luck !

If you are in college and you pay $83 for a factory replacement then you are not drinking enough beer.
You didn't say which speaker you blew. If it's just a door one go with the Alpines. $60 for a pair from the net and you'll get better mids and highs out of the deal.

The factory speakers are $83 dollars each from dealer. I called about them before going with The Alpine SPS-170A's ($60/pair). I'm very happy with them. They sound noticeably better than the stock speakers did.
