wires are crossed or something. this usually happens when the install is done below avereage, in other words, a shitie job (no offense if you did it, everyone makes mistakes) when people do it half *** or take shortcuts...

yup, it was installed by me, what wires could be crossed? speaker wires?
everything else works perfect. sounds great, which is good, spent a lot
of money on this system. no short cuts were taken, as this is my car.

If the wine increases with engine rpm, you have a ground loop problem. You need to check all your grounds and make sure you have good connections to the chassis. It's best to check your ground with a meter and make sure you have almost no resistance. Are you using an amp? Amp grounding problems are where this problem usually surfaces. Also make sure you don't have rca cables or speaker wires run next to power cables. Hope this helps.

Usually when the patch cord comes close to a 12v wire.

Make sure that you have the preamp and the 12v seperate.
I run the 12v on one side and the preamp on the other.

Seperate the RCA/Speaker wires from the power wires. Amplifiers require considerable current. THe higher the current, the stronger the magnetic field surounding the power wires. The stronger the magnetic field, the more likely you are going to couple noise onto nearby wiring.

much simpler solution as you already have the wire installed... go buy a ground loop isolator (they are fairly cheap), or borrow one, and plug it in between your RCAs and amp, your noise will most likely go away.

Might be worth trying, but in my experience, ground loop isolators rarely work. I would say, save your money, move a few wires and check your grounds. Jmo.

I've had this problem before too... This was when i was still learning all the tricks/proper stereo installations...

Run your Power wire on one side of the car, and the speaker, RCA, & Preamp, on the other.. NEVER together, or you'll be looking at a problem like this... Its easy to switch it.. I wouldnt **** with buying anything new.. This will fix the problem.. Also.. Make sure your grounds are free of paint/rust. (make a good, solid, tight connection!)
