suggestions please...
New to the audio scene.... and i was wanting to find a direct replacement of the sail panel speakers in my T/A . I replaced the passenger side with another Monsoon speaker. Now my driver side has blown. I do not want to change from the stock amp , nor do i want to install another monsoon speaker. What speaker/s would fit and wire right up with the monsoon amp and sound good ? I have a Pioneer Head Unit. Im more into making the car go than being heard... I just dont feel like listening to a blown speaker anymore. Suggestions and links (and prices) are greatly appreciated!

So my best bet would be to get a new amp that can push more power than the monsoon? What size amp would you suggest? i do not want any large subs ( 10, 12's and so forth ) i would like a nice Stock looking sound system . I want to replace the 2 sail panel speakers because they are the only speakers that are causing me trouble. I would like to get 2 good quality speakers to replace the stockers, but i really didnt want to replace the amp. Could I reuse the stock wiring to hook up a new amp and speakers and not have any problems out of them? Keep in mind im sorta budget conscious about the audio. Thanks for the help.
No. If your going to keep the stock head unit, you might as well keep the Monsoon amplifier. I'd replace the speakers with a decent pair of aftermarket speakers.
Your stock sail speakers are 6.75" 4 ohm dual voice coil midbass drivers (Camaros have 2 ohm single voice coil drivers). So you find 4 wires going to each speaker. Both coils are driven seperately by the amplifier (I have no idea why). Your replacements speakers will use only 2 of these wires. People who have tried bridging the 4 wires have reported very poor results.
Remember, the Monsoon amp has build in crossovers for the woofers in the doors and sails. So if you drop in a full range speaker, you will not hear anything coming from the tweeter. Also, 6.5" speakers will work fine, but you'll likely need an adaptor bracket to make them fit.
I've replaced all the speakers in my SS. I currentl have Alpine SPS-170A's in the doors, Pioneer TS-M7PRS midbasses in the sails, and Alpine SPS-100A's in the rear hatch area. I just finished the sail replacement this afternoon.

Opps .... sorry for getting the handle name wrong.
Would the Pioneer TS-M7PRS work fine in a Trans Am .. I seen that you said the T/A sail panel speaker was 4ohms and the camaro was 2 ohms ... would that cause any problem ?

The Pioneers are 4 ohm. So they will work fine in the T/A. They run about $200 a pair. There are less expensive alternatives out there, if you don't want to spend that much.
The wiring to the stock speakers are as follows:
White - Left Subwoofer Coil 1 +
Yellow - Left Subwoofer Coil 1 -
Lt Grn/Blk - Left Subwoofer Coil 2 -
Dk Blu/Wht - Left Subwoofer Coil 2 +
Tan - Right Subwoofer Coil 1 +
Red - Right Subwoofer Coil 1 -
Lt Blu/Blk - Right Subwoofer Coil 2 -
Dk Grn - Right Subwoofer Coil 2 +
(Note: The Camaro saill speaker wires match the Coil 2 wire colors above)
Make sure you use only one pair of wires per speaker and check your polarity.
Note: The Pioneer spec sheet said they are designed for maximum performance in small sealed enclosures (.175cf). I used sound deadening material to create such an enclosure behind the speaker. I'm not sure if they would've sounded any different in free air, as I didn't test them without my make-shift enclosure.
Sorry, I didn't have my camera handy, so I don't have pictures.

Yes. But you'll want to keep in mind that the Monsoon system is relatively low power. So you'll want a speaker with good sensitivity, otherwise you will find yourself fading to the rear channel alot just to hear them. You can also drop in a good 2-way speaker. You just won't be using the tweeters on them.
