That won't work. There really is no bounce from other targeted cars. LIDAR (laser) can only be operated from a fixed location (not mounted in a moving vehicle like radar). The angle of incidence of the beam must be fairly narrow to provide accurate readings so the gun must be mounted close to the side of the road or on a low overpass. This means that all of the reflection basically goes back in the direction of the gun - not back towards other vehicles (narrow angle of incidence equals narrow angle of reflection). Your only hope of picking up laser is from the (minimal) spread of the beam at a distance when they're targeting another vehicle or picking up the weak signal when you are targeted at too great a distance for a reading on the gun (commonly used as an aiming technique by LEOs).

Unless you are extremely lucky, you might as well just pull over when your laser detector goes off because they probably already have you.

Of course one advantage is that they tend to be more lenient with the speeds when using laser. This is because the LEO operating the gun can't chase you (can't leave the gun behind) - he has another officer in a chase vehicle. That makes them tend to only go after the worst offenders. Keep your speed below 10-15 over and you probably won't be bothered.

They made a cheaper version without the laser shifting.
It didnt cost near that much and made a real nice install.
Im not sure if bel still makes that one because I havent seen one in a while.

Just mount it there and then run the 12v wire along the front seem of your headliner...it looks clean. Why can't we all just drive the speed limit these days?? because i have a SS!! Im not spose to, nor are you other F-bodys or Vettes!!!
i have mine above my rear view mirrior. but i have noticed it doesnt detect radar from the rear of the vehicle as well as it does from the front. i drove up on a unmanned radar station that tells you your speed, and the detector went off just fine. but when i came down the road going the other way, it took longer for it to go off since it was picking it up from the rear this time.

just something to think about.
