Default ipod Hookup

I've been reading some threads about hooking up an ipod to the stock head unit with a CD changer. I have an '02 Z28 with the stock head unit, but I don't have a CD changer is it still possible to hook up my ipod without going the itrip way?

Am I right about this? I was reading that I would lose the CD capabilities of my monsoon. I guess you really don't need the CD player if you have an ipod hooked up. Just wondering. Does anybody have this set up and if so how do you like it? Thanks for the info.

No, you lose the CD changer capabilities of your system. The indash single CD will still work exactly the same as before.

According to http://www.theistore.com/ipod2car.html their website claims that it's compatible with all the ipods except the ipod shuffle.

Not quite...it will work with any cassette head unit but it will only work with CD head units made after the middle of the 99 model year. Prior to that the CD head units weren't capable of controlling a changer. As long as you have a 2000 thru 2002 model it will work. If you have a 99 model it might work or it might not depending on how late in the year it was made. If you have a 98 model it won't work.

Yes, it plugs into the 9-pin CD changer port on the back of the radio.

I have a cd player out of a different car, I think a newer pickup or something. It has a cd/aux button on it so the adapter should work with that correct since it has aux option even though I have a 97 car.

Yes, it's the model of head unit not the model of car that makes the difference. As long as the head unit supports a CD changer the adapter will work.
