Default Newb Help With IPOD

Hey guys im thinking of picking up an Ipod to use mainly in my car. Just because i hate dragging around CD's and i can never get all the songs i want on 1 CD. So anyways whats the best and easiest way to hook up an Ipod to a stock 99 Camaro SS cd player. There is no cassete deck in my radio. I heard the Itrip is good. But i wanna make sure its gonna work good and sound good.. i dont want it to sound horrible and like break up on me or what not. So if anyone can help me i would appreciate it. Thanks Alot

i forget what my thing is called, its like the cradle though. it plugs into the cigarette lighter, you stick the ipod in it, and youre set. you can choose whatever radio station you want it to transmit through, so you can always find one that is crystal clear. only prob is that in camaros, the cigarette lighters arent accessible. the one behind the shifter is too close to the shifter, and it gets in the way. the other one by the ebrake works, but its not RIGHT there for you to scroll through songs and such

About halfway down is a cable to attach the i-pod with the factory stereo and greatest part about it you can utilize the seek on the steering wheel to change songs on the i-pod. Crystal clear and you dont have to keep changing the radio stations for the fm modulator.

i've learned my lesson with an fm transmitter.i had two, they both sucked!the sounded like crap!i have a pioneer deck so i got the cd-ib100,the pioneer ipod adapter and it sounds like a cd.perfect!and the best thing is i can plug in the ipod, put it in my glove box and leave it.you dont have to mess with the ipod.you control it with your deck.if you dont have a pioneer deck, they got it for kenwood and alpine decks.if you want to keep the stock deck, you can buy the "ipod2car" adapter but a little expensive$200.they are at one of the elctronic stores....Hint:its the BEST store!!

Be careful - CD head units changed in the middle of the 99 model year. The early ones couldn't control an external changer so the various iPod or auxiliary adapters won't work with them.

The only way to tell if your 99 CD head unit will work with an adapter is to open it up and look at the number stamped on the CD drive inside. It will be either E-8276-1 or E-8276A-1. The one with the "A" supports a changer (or adapter), the one without the A doesn't.

No, their adapter will work with any head unit that provides auxiliary input (which the Monsoon systems don't provide). Besides, if the head unit already provided auxiliary input you wouldn't need an adapter to connect an iPod - just use a 3.5mm to RCA cable.

FM Transmitters blow. Get an ipod2car kit, as stated before. Unless youre in love with the stock hu, you could always go for an aftermarket HU and get an ipod adapter. This would leave room for future upgrades if you planned for that. Just a thought.

n2/n3's are nice. Made by pioneer.DVD/Navigation. But I think that the ipod adapter has been discontinued. Might wanna check their website to make sure. I think theyre the best bang for the buck. Alpine can get expensive.
