I love them. I often see people behind me pointing at them and I even had a guy pull into a parking lot behind me just to ask about them.

Here is a video. The ones in the video are running just a little too fast. You can get a heavy duty or electronic flasher to slow them down and make the sequencing more obvious.

I hope it's not expensive... cuz you can do it yourself with parts from radioshack for CHEAP

I was in the process of making a solid wall of LEDs for my 1990 Firebird.... but then someone totalled it for me...

now I need to figure out how to work with the 4thgen tails...

They range from about $70 to just under $100. Yes, you can build one yourself if you're familiar with logic circuits. There's more involved than there would be with something like an LED replacement. You have to create a circuit to evenly sequence three bulbs on whichever side when the turn signal is on but still have solid (unsequenced) lights for the brake lights. The parts are fairly cheap but the knowledge necessary to make it work correctly is not something everyone has.

They are also available at this site. (Scroll down to the STS-1 Generic Sequential Turn Signal System listing)

how easy is that kit off of ebay to install? basically just splice a few wires and preplace the parking lamp bulbs right?

Both ebay and the other site are the same kit - the STS-1 kit. They are fairly easy to install except for making the brake lights not sequence.

There are two modules in the kit (one for each side). Each has an input wire and three output wires for the three bulbs. You will need to replace the bulb and socket of the outboard running light with a dual filament one available from most parts stores. Just connect the input wire to the turn/brake wire and the output wires to each of the three sockets.

By default the modules will sequence the lights once and then go solid when you step on the brake. To avoid this you need to connect the designated wire from each module to the turn signal indicator wire for each side. This is not particularly difficult but involves running two wires from the taillights up to the dash for the connection.

the connection can not be made back at the tail lights? I mean isnt there a wire already for the turn signals that you can attach to? instead of going up to the dash, and if not where are the wires under the dash? im guessing under the steering column?

No, at the back of the car the turn signal and brake signal are on the same wire. The module needs an independant connection to tell whether the brakes are coming on or it's the first flash of the turn signal.

You can connect to the turn signal wires behind the dash above the steering column (that's the way they describe in the installation instructions). But I found it easier to get the two turn signal wires at the DRL module behind the radio. It's just easier to reach and doesn't involve lying upside down under the dash.

so if the module only has one input how will it get the brake input? sorry just confused. I understand what you are saying, just dont know how if it is made for just the one wire input you can make it separate for the brake and turn sig.
