Default Help me pick Infinity products please

I'm totally confused even after search as to how I should upgrade my 2k WS6 Moonsoon system
I added an Alpine 9813 deck, sounds better, but not good highs and bass is flat.
So I'm gonna add either 1 or 2 subs in stealth boxes from subthump.
I'm thinking the Infinity 10VDQ Kappa perfect 1 or 2???? not sure which, I want it to be nice tight bass, I listen to heavy metal, rock, and some Pop IF I do 2 I'll get the 1300 amp, if one then the 600w should work fine.

for speakers I ordered the alpine 6.5 front and the 4" back speakers with the Pioneer mids for the sail panel. However, my friend works and UPS and just told me he can get infiniity for dirt cheap. So wondering if I should switch to infinity all around??? If so, should I stay with Monsoon amp and just replace speakers, or go whole hog and do a 4channel amp and speakers about. UGH so confused.

I don't want to drop a TON of $$$ b/c I still have to put a system in my Vette this year too :O, and that car WILL need amp/speaker to replace the crap they call Bose .

thanks

Just a word before you overspend at subthump. There are stealth boxes on ebay for around $50 all the time. Just saw 2 get sold and I got one of them.

Infinity is just an subpar brand, but perfects might suit you fine. I went with a soundsplinter RT-i 10". IDQMAX is great SQ sub. Adire Brahma is an amazing sub also.

Alpine, Infinity, you're just trading subpar for subpar. They're just popular brands, but not really good if you actually heard good.

www.caraudioforum.com is a good forum to search around.

ty for that info, I saw that too.
I have purchased from subthump before and although prices are a touch high, their quality is great! So I might just spend the extra $ for piece of mind, I dunno yet.

If you are only setting up a modest system, I think you'll be happy with how the Alpines will sound when driven by the Monsoon amp. Since you are sending the amp a good signal with your aftermarket deck, they will sound really nice. People totally hate on the monsoon amp but if you send it a good signal and it is driving good speakers, it does it's job well enough. About 30-40 watts rms with good headroom. But you do have to bi-amp wire the alpines for this.

I think 95% of people would be happy with an aftermarket deck, good coaxials up front through the monsoon amp, disconnect the sail panel subs, and run a single 10" sub with a decent amp. Hatch speakers are option depending if you like rear fill.

I'd try that before digging in any further. And unless you like rear fill, realize the hatch speakers aren't really necessary. In a factory setup they help because the stockers have such limited volume capacity, but once you get the alpines in there midrange and treble volume should be sufficient without them.

I do agree going used on the sub boxes. I mean you put them in and never really look at them again. Even if you get one with a chipped corner or something it'd be easy enough to fill in, and the savings just bought your sub.

If you can get the infinity speakers dirt cheap, I would do it. I have them, and while they are not the very best speaker out there, I would in no way consider them "sub-par". They are surely an upgade to the stock speakers, and at a dirt cheap price, unless you are competing, why not get them? Mine sounded good w/ the monsoon amp, then I added a 4 Channel amp, and it got better.

i agree, they are not the "best" speaker, but if you wanted that go for memphis or something on that price bracket. but as for the price and quality i say infinities are great! did my whole system with infinities and an alpine head unit and i love it, sounds great. if you are looking for good sound and not competition go with something you can afford and works for you. my amps are def. not great quality but they sound perfect in my opinion. also i wouldnt bother with the 4", they make the sound too peaky. but if you really want them i have a new set i need to get rid of cause i dont use em. installed for a couple of hours and since i didnt have another amp for em i didnt want to use them. i could have them just ran off of the head unit but whatever. anyway, if you want them pm me. you'll get them cheap

My experience with Infinity is the midbass is not that good compare to other speakers within the same price range. The high's are a bit harsh and knocked them down a notch with the crossover. Currently, looking to replace them with something better.

ugh! Now I'm confused

vs teh Alpines I bought or the Infinities I could buy, which will sound better with stock amp for now . It's either of those 2. Researching lead me to believe the alpine were my best bet, but I can get the infinities for the same price I paid for teh Alpine, sell them off and break about even. Or Mod the Alpine and just be done .

Also I have the Pioneer mid bass if that matters at all for the rear sail

I've had alpine sps170A (type-s) coaxials in the doors and then had Infinity Reference 6002i and 6012i in the same doors...in case your wondering I get them cheap too and test everything before I sell it to see if it sounds better than what I have...Boston Rally Series Components. My expereince was that they both sound about the same. Little more bass out of the alpines but nothing to shake the ground with by any means. Blacker is right about the highs on the infinitys being harsh but you just adjust the treble and go from there. Both sound fine for a moderate system. Adire, Morel, RE, CDT, yea you can do better but do want to go spend $500.00 to $1000.00 on components for your doors and another $500.00 or more on an amp to power them??!! I'm thinkin thats not what you were looking for. With your stock Monsoon I've heard people like the SPS170 Alpines and the Infinity's both. Infinity does make a 2ohm speaker that is more compatible with your stock 2ohm front speakers and will sound better than a 4ohm will. Keep that in mind and good luck with your system!!

the speakers I was considering were the Infinity
KAPPA62.7I 2ohm I can get for $61.80 a pair

2-Infinity
KAPPA PERFECT 10DVQ
$105 ea

1-Infinity
REF1211A
1200 Watt Class D Subwoofer Amplifier

I have the alipine 4's for the rear and the pioneer for midbass sail panels?

sound like a good well rounded system?
