Weird Electrical Problem with headlights on a lt1 Alright, normally in all t/a's you can switch the light switch to the first click, and your fog lights will come on * if they are switched on * and your side markers will also come on, but your headlights will remain off, and in the down position. I have a weird issue were my headlights come up, but not on, at that switch position. Now If I move the headlight switch up to the far right ( headlights on ) the headlights ( that are already up ) come on.
The only reason I would like this to work is that I have a messed up passangerside motor and it makes a really loud ratcheting sound when I put the headlights down for about 10 seconds, and when I come home late and turn my headlights off it ratchets really loud. If I could just turn the headlights off when I pulled into my neighborhood, and leave the fogs on ( so I could see ) it would make my late night entrances a lot easier.

Try unplugging the motor on the broken side and turning the running ligts and headlights on and off a couple times. I'd do that and then they'd work fine after then...until I plugged the broken motor back in. Everytime I'd lock or unlock the car using the fob The lights would bounce up and down...then grind.

the motor is coming up because the gear is stripped. the way the headlights work is they push themselves until they cant move anymore then they stop trying to move. really bad design. get a brass gear and your problems are over promise. that is what happened to me. everytime i beeped my alarm they headlights would pop up twice and then make that grinding noise.

Verdad Gallardo Yep. To check this unplug the bum motor and turn 'em on and off a couple times...The working motor will still come up with the running lights the first time, but then it will go up and down just like it's supposed to after that.
