tach signal

tach signal trying to put a tach w/shift light in my 98 camaro,tapped into white #35 pin wire on pcm and cannot get any signal,tried cutting the wires and getting a better connection still a no go.
any ideas on what i should try?

ok so...we hooked it up to an old truck to see if the tach was just bad,it worked just fine.
so were tapping into the #35 white wire,but somehow not getting a signal.this is frusterating.
