Default Pac Swi-alp

Hi guys. I just purchased the Alpine 9857 and installed it with no problems. I am having trouble with the PAC unit I purchased. I can get the unit into program mode, but once I start programming the buttons on my steering wheel, nothing happens. Has anyone gotten this to work successfully? The directions are confusing as it is. I think I have it wired up correct, or else it wouldn't go into program mode. I have a 2000 Z28 with the monsoon system. Thanks!

are you hitting the designated button on the factory remote then holding the steering wheel control for 10 sec....i was having problems where only the first function would work, and it was always sending the signal, i wasnt holding it down long enough...look in the trouble shooting section

I didn't know I had to. The receiver only came with a wireless remote. But a wired remote was optional, so the PAC unit should still work.

yeah, the pac unit learns the signal from the aftermarket stereo remote, after you hit the program button on the pac you aim the remote at the sensor on the pac unit(be within a few inches), then press and hold the corrosponding button on the steeringwheel for atleast 10 seconds, i held mine for about 15 just to be sure..(this is all off memory, ill try and find all the paper wrk to refresh my memory)

Makes sense. The instructions said nothing about using the remote, but I knew I was missing something. Let me know what you find. Thanks.

So when you aim the remote at the PAC sensor, do you have to hold down the remote button and steering wheel button to program? For example, the volume up button on the remote and the volume up on the steering wheel. Hope that's not too confusing.

ok you first aim the remote at the pac sensor just push it once, the light should flash...then press and hold the button on the steering wheel that you want to do that action....

If you bought the SWI-ALP it should directly hook into the Alpine
the SWI-X has the sensor where you actually program the module and it emits the same remote commands to the head unit.
