Default Dynamat install suggestions

Im planning on installing Dynamat Extreme in my 2000 Z28 w/ t-tops. Any suggestions? I bought the bulk kit (9 sheets) so I want to intstall where ever possible without doing a full rip out of the interior. I would like to take care of the most common problem/noise areas first and then move on to the details. I have a subthump stealth box in the back and want to clean up some vibrations there too. I also want to quite down the doors, they rattle quite a bit when closing them. I just took my door panel off today and was wondering if I should remove the plastic water barrier and then put the dynamat down? Also, then do I even need this plastic?

I welcome any advice. Thanks, Mike.

Rear wheel wells, hatch deck, doors. Those are probably the most important three areas.

Most road noise comes from the wheel wells.
Most muffler/exaust noise comes from the hatch back floor area (right above the catback)

if you don't have t-tops, I would do the roof too. For some reason, it rattles. You might want to get another box.

One bulk kit isnt going to do much. Like 2MuchRice said. You should try to do the trunk/wheelwell area first, untill you get more matting.

start from where your resonance starts..... from the hatch forward. It only makes sense to stop vibrations from the source, not the reverb. The rear sail panel speakers helps alot too...... but I cant tell you how big a diff it makes as I have coated the whole car.

Doors, any where in the rear of the car. Basically anywhere you can get too without having to pull the upholstery.

Pray you never have to change the window regulator but it will quieten it down tremdously.

Exactly, most people just cover it and think that it will help, even when you have gaps that air can escape through like where the window lock bar is. It says right on the directions that dynamat does not help as much when its in an open environment.

As for the window regulators, I could not agree more, I made sure I cutout every nut just in case, I have felt the pain of replacing it.

I replaced the window motor when I had the door apart. Even if I did have to change it again it wont be as bad as it looks.

If it wasnt for the door panel I wouldn't of did the outside of the door. I would of done the inside panel/skin. The main reason I did the doors that way was because of the rattles. There is not one rattle in either door. No matter how hard or soft you shut them.

I just finished installing my windows interface and hooked up a 4 channel amp and I could not agree more that it helps the doors feel extremely solid. I can crank on the speakers until I cant handle it with great deal of midbass and get 0 resonance. But the plastics are there for a reason, They cutout most of the wind noise and Id reccomend keeping them if they are in good shape or buying a new set from the dealership.
