Here is a link showing the factory Monsoon head unit for a T/A and Camaro.
The T/A head unit says Monsoon on the top left where as the Camaro says it on the bottom right.

Here are the links:

The 98 models didn't have the Monsoon logo on the head unit. The best way to tell is check the option code list on the door. The Monsoon RPO was W54 or W55 depending on whether it was a cassette or CD head unit (that's for a coupe - for convertibles it was X10 or X20).

Another way is to check for the amp in front of the spare tire.

The big empty plug is where the amplifier was supposed to be. So either your SS doesn't have the Monsoon system, or someone swiped your amp.

The empty plug on the left (driver's side) would be for the CD changer. There isn't one on the passenger side unless someone took out your amp as HiTechGent said. You should find the amp in front of the spare tire on the right side.
