Whats a good, but fairly priced 400-500 watt RMS amp?
I am looking for something to push my Eclipse 10' sub. The sub is rated at 750 RMS, but I think putting 400-500 to it max will be enough. I tried a Rockford 800.2 amp, but it drained waaay to much power from the charging system and didn't really sound that good. I am looking for something in the 400-500w range, that won't need a kidney donation to buy. I had a little Alpine 300w amp on this sub before and it sounded great, is it possible to put a little more power and still sound good? Or maybe I should go back to the smaller Alpine??

If you liked the souds out of the alpine then get a stronger one, and get a crossover. Thats wierd you didnt like the RF. I have been hearing a lot of people liking MTX amps so you could try those amps. And if u have charging issues get a capacitator, they are wonderful.

That is wierd that you didn't like the RF amp. If it was draining your electrical system, more than like likely it was starving for power itself.. and metion earlier get a 1 farad cap it will do wonders for you system. The amp will sound 100% better when it's getting the proper juice from the battery. Just my .02! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I had 2 kicker competition 10's and MB QUART componets front and rear in my 95z with BS wiring and I thought it sounded ok......when I got my 98, I had them rewire the entire system with Monster Cable and add a 1 farad cap and let me tell you it about blew me out of the car!

Josh, what impedance is your sub? I am guessing that it's a DVC - this will work best with that Alpine amp. The 500w (it makes that output at 2 ohms) Alpine runs around $400 or so depending on where you shop. Email Ravi at IndoAudio@aol.com and he should hook you up with a real good price, should be lower than $400.
