Default DS window didn't work.....wiggle rubber boot in door jam, now it works...?

I don't know if I have the right forum, as there is no clear 'right' forum for stuff like this....but here it goes.
I had a problem with my DS power window going up and everybody seemed to think it was the window motor, as I did as well. Well I tried holding the 'up' button and closing the door a bunch of times (was told by dealer that sometimes works if the motor is going bad just in an emergency to get the window rolled up) and that didn't work. So, for the hell of it I just tried wiggling that rubber boot that harnesses all of the wires for the door in the front of the door in the door jam. I then tried the window and now it works fine I tried moving that whole boot/harness a bunch of times WHILE powering the window up and down just to see if I could get the motor to stop/start to verify a bad connection or bad wire, but nothing....it continues to work flawlessly. Does anybody have any ideas as to what could have caused this?? This is the first and only time this window has acted up. I don't use my windows all that much because I don't drive the car in the rain so my t-tops are always off with my windows down, when I'm driving it or when it sits in the garage. The only time my car sits with the windows up is when I'm washing it.

I plan on popping the door panel off and taking a look at all the electrical motor connection as well as as many wires I can wiggle around and inspect.

Any comments??

Thanks
Paul

These windows can be fussy like that. My driver's side went out in less than a year and I replaced the motor. Constantly lubricating the weatherstripping with silicon keeps them happy.

As to your problem - there is a circuit breaker that will "pop" when overheated to protect the motor. It automatically resets itself in time. I'm guessing the motor got overstressed and the circuit breaker popped. By the time you tried the "wiggling", the circuit breaker reset itself and allowed the window to go up. Just a guess though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
