Default Installing a "ENGINE START" button

<img src="http://www.cartogra.com/rs/0A6B7CCB-A905-11D6-B42C-0090277A760E/screen" alt=" - " />

I'm looking into installing this where the cigarette lighter is on my SS. How difficult would this be and what about the PASS security key? Can an alarm installion shop do this?

I'm thinking if you just add a something like a 4ga wire from the +bat terminal to the switch, from the switch to the +starter terminal it should work fine. Of course you would have to have your key in the run position.

Is turning the key really that hard? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I think it's a cool idea. If anything this is less convenient than just turning the key, but it does have some cool factor to it. Let us know how it goes....... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

It would be cooler if a toggle switch turned the car on and shut it off, NASCAR style.

Why don't you just buy an S2000?

At 6'5", it is a painfull fit, but I did test drive it. Turning the key and pressing the ENGINE START button gives you a little rush, it sets you apart from the other millions of cars that start with the good old key twist. Fun is my only motivation.

<child mode>you should hook up a box with a little speaker in it that has a robot voice that says "car started!" when you press the button too. That'd be cool, and fun! Plus you could make it say things like "Michael, I see trouble up ahead" and then you could reply "Kitt, I'm one step ahead of you". Then you could press your naws buttons and fly in the air.</child mode>

Me? I just prefer to turn the key to start my car. Driving it should be the fun part, not starting it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

depends on how you want it to work, but yes a alarm shop with experience with remote start addons should be able to wire it up for you.

take a meter and put it on oms and meter the key then pull the botton of the dash a part. there will be a little wire by the wireing harish it should be orange I think, it is two little wires togather cut it and put a resitor in the side that DOES NOT GO TO THE STEEIN WHEEL make sure it reads the same as the key reads. In line with the two wires. It should make a loop Back to the compter. That should take care of the key part.

That was extremely vague. I hope someone isn't brave enough to go messing with their vats system based on that discription. Aslo what good would that information be even if it was writen to the point a 1st grader could understand it if you don't tell them what color the starter wire is or anything else?

this has noting to do with the starter wire. this is so you don't have to trun the key to start it.

Pssssst..... I think your forgeting the fact the button would have to engage the starter in order to not turn the key...hence he would have to tap the starter wire too <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

YEAR: 1999 MAKE: Chevrolet MODEL: Camaro STYLE:

| ITEM | WIRE COLOR |POL | WIRE LOCATION |
| 12V |red | + |ignition harness |
| STARTER |yellow | + |ignition harness |

You seem to really wanna know this so I will quit being lazy and help ya out... All you need is a standard Bosh relay and a push button of course. Come off the red wire (I think there are 2 either will work) in the ignition harness with like a 14ga wire and put a 30A fuse on the wire to protect it. Connect the wire you just ran to pin 85 & pin 87 of the bosh relay. Run a wire from pin 30 back to the yellow starter wire. Now you will have 2 pins left open on the relay 87a (which we will not be using) and pin 86. Now anytime you put a negative to pin 86 it will turn the started over so all you need to do now is mount your push button where ever you want and hook one side of the push button to ground and the other side to pin 86. So by doing it this way you have the gimick of haveing a push button to turn the started over, all you gotta do is put the key in and turn the key to the run position and hit the button to turn the starter over instead of turning the key all the way to the crank position. you can make it where the car will totally start just from the push button but this is alot more complicated and costs alot more money but if you truly wanna do it that way I can get you the information you need but you would still have to put the key in the ignition regardless to unlock the steering column and so forth so it would be a waste of money to do it this way but it would be kinda neat too.
Hope this finally helps you out......
