Installing a "ENGINE START" button
I'm looking into installing this where the cigarette lighter is on my SS. How difficult would this be and what about the PASS security key? Can an alarm installion shop do this?
At 6'5", it is a painfull fit, but I did test drive it. Turning the key and pressing the ENGINE START button gives you a little rush, it sets you apart from the other millions of cars that start with the good old key twist. Fun is my only motivation.

Me? I just prefer to turn the key to start my car. Driving it should be the fun part, not starting it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

You seem to really wanna know this so I will quit being lazy and help ya out... All you need is a standard Bosh relay and a push button of course. Come off the red wire (I think there are 2 either will work) in the ignition harness with like a 14ga wire and put a 30A fuse on the wire to protect it. Connect the wire you just ran to pin 85 & pin 87 of the bosh relay. Run a wire from pin 30 back to the yellow starter wire. Now you will have 2 pins left open on the relay 87a (which we will not be using) and pin 86. Now anytime you put a negative to pin 86 it will turn the started over so all you need to do now is mount your push button where ever you want and hook one side of the push button to ground and the other side to pin 86. So by doing it this way you have the gimick of haveing a push button to turn the started over, all you gotta do is put the key in and turn the key to the run position and hit the button to turn the starter over instead of turning the key all the way to the crank position. you can make it where the car will totally start just from the push button but this is alot more complicated and costs alot more money but if you truly wanna do it that way I can get you the information you need but you would still have to put the key in the ignition regardless to unlock the steering column and so forth so it would be a waste of money to do it this way but it would be kinda neat too.
Hope this finally helps you out......
