Default Headlight mod for TA..HELP.....¿?

I want to do the headlamp mod for the TA where the foglamps light up with the brights (all 6 lamps light up in brights mode). I want my fogs to come on with brights but want to also retain the manual foglight switch function with normal headlights on. I have checked numerous posts and some relate to the Camaro only while others talk about having fogs light up everytime lights are turned on (not being able to switch them out). One talks abot putting a jumper between two terminals of fog relay and another talks about cutting l.green wire coming into fog relay and hooking it to ground.

Can someone tell me the correct method for my 99TA so as to have the lights function as described above?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

i dont know about the method you talked about but i've been trying to do a headlight mod on my TA as well. Someone told me to find a person called xbchbum supposedly he can help.

From what I heard, putting a relay would be one of the safest and easiest ways. I dont know about the warranty though.

If I get you correctly, I think you are trying to do the same thing I have described above. I don't want to cut any wires and find out that it doesn't work the way I described. Also some replies are from Camaro owners and I may be wrong but I think that the wiring may be different as all 4 lamps on our TA's light when going to brights. We just want to be able to keep the fogs on with brights but retain normal on/off fog lamp switchability.

LMK if you get something that works and I will do the same.

This talks about it but the image thats linked isn't shown. anybody know exactly which parts of the relay's plug need to be wired together? I did this on my old car but i've forgotten what it was exactly.

It's pretty easy to do on a Firebird. The circuit is designed so that the fog light relay trigger coil grounds through the highbeam circuit. When the highbeams are on there is 12V+ on both sides of the relay coil so that it doesn't engage (the fog lights go off). Find the fog light relay under the hood in junction box #1 along the inside of the left fender. The relay will have four wires - brown, yellow, purple and light green. Cut the light green wire and run the relay side to ground. Tape up the other side to prevent shorting. Now the relay has ground regardless of whether the highbeams are on so they will work normally but also stay on when using the highbeams.

I won't mention that this is illegal in most states (I don't know about Canada) because they allow no more than four lights illuminated.

I am assuming this is what you are reffering to?

My foglights will stay on when I have the high-beams on, and I still have full control of the fog lights with the on off switch. The way I did my mod took me about 2 minutes and is fully reversible.

Yes and no. The wiring in the Camaro is just a little different. Doing the Firebird mod will work so that the fog lights will stay on with the highbeams but the switch indicator light won't show that they are still on. The ON indicator light in the Camaro grounds through the highbeam circuit so the light won't stay on when the highbeams are in use. To make the Camaro switch indicator light work properly you have to do basically the same thing at the switch as you did at the relay. Cut the light green wire behind the switch and run the switch side of the wire to a good ground. Tape up the other end of the wire to prevent shorting.

Not to disagree, but with my highbeams on, or lowbeams, my foglights remain on along with the indicator light. The indicator light only goes out when I turn the foglights off.

I should have been more precise - "Doing the Firebird mod on a Camaro will work..."

On the 1998-2002 Firebird, High and Low stay on together stock. If you are referring to Fog Lights staying on with High Beams, its technically illegal since you are only allowed to have 4 forward lights on, but its an easy mod and is in the Lighting FAQ.
