3 10" Sub setup...stereo experts come in please.. I'm looking to buy a triple 10" sub enclousure from subthump.com. I think it runs for something like 275 dollars. What would you guys reccomend for subs. I've had my eye on the Eclipse 10" Titanium DVCs for a while. What else would really hit hard? (for 10s anyway) Or are 3 10" subs not the way to go. Maybe 2 12"s would be better? I'm not really sure. I think with the 3 10"s I will get a pretty clear, hard hitting sound. 12"s may hit harder but I'd rather have a more clear sound. I also saw someone on here with a custom 2 12", 2 8" sub enclousure that didnt go in the T top storage well, and had the TRANS AM ensignia on the back of it. Maybe that would be best? On top of all this, I have to decide on AMPs. If any of this makes any sense to you guys, please help out, thanks a lot.

Re: 3 10" Sub setup...stereo experts come in please.. well,,, to run three subs, you will need a big amp or serval amps compared to 2 12" with a single amp that is good in size, like at least 300 x 2,,, for the three 10", you will need about 200-250 watts per sub to get good sound
what type of bass you want? tight bass or loud bass? three 10" will give some good tight bass, and it will not be much louder than the 12" two 12" will produce some louder bass becuase the woofer is larger, you may want to research the difference between the 10" and 12" subs,,, another thing to think about, is the "power" to run this type of setup, you need at least 4 gauge wire from the battery, for this box to hold three 10", check the internal volume of each sub, and then pick the best sub that will perform the best in that sub box, i imagine, its going to be alittle smaller than 2 10" sub box for a camaro/firebird, and they have like .75 cubic feet, and that is average for a sub

Re: 3 10" Sub setup...stereo experts come in please.. I would go ahead and run 3 10s. The first reason is that 3 10s is about 236 square inches of cone area, whereas 2 12s is only 226". The second reason is that 10s are more efficient than 12s because of the lighter cone. Another reason is that 10s will give you a little more punch than 12s and with the right box will play just as low. Hope this helps.
Re: 3 10" Sub setup...stereo experts come in please.. Thanks for the advice guys. I'm looking for a nice clear tight bass, that still hits decently hard. What other 10s would you guys reccomend. I love the eclipse Titanium core DVCs but they are gonna make me spend a lot more money then I want to.

Re: 3 10" Sub setup...stereo experts come in please.. If you are going to run eclipse subs, especially the alum or ti ones, the are going to be extremely loud. I had a setup with three tens, and a friend of mine had the two twelves (we both had eclipse) but while the three tens hit louder, the 12's definitely sounded deeper. I prefered the 2 12's myself. As for a good amp to run them, get one of the memphis ones...very efficient, can push either setup and can handle low ohms

Metal/ Rock = 10s are good
Country/ Rap = 12s are good.
However there are some good 12s that can do just about as good of a job for Metal/Rock as a 10 would. I personally think the 12 is the better all-around sub.
