Re: Wonderin what to put in. . .
here would be my recommendation... keep in mind i don't know if stangs have a 4, 6, whatever setup.. so i'm gonna assume 4 spkrs...
i would get a strong head unit with front, rear, and sub rca's (not all do that fyi)... clean sound and lots of control, look into the pioneer.. like the 6400 or mabye the 8400 if you like the sliding face style w/ mp3 playback... get an amp for your high/mid spkrs.. and get an amp for your subs.. .for the money i'd say the rockford HE2 subs are just incredible... get a pair of those.. probably about $180 a piece for 12's if i remember right.. get a big *** amp for those, a medium for the mids/highs... and then of course replace the factory speakers w/ another brand.. there i'd relay from my experience that pioneers are nice as well as the cerwinvegas.. pioneers are designed to fit in fords better though... for wiring, get a 4 gauge wiring setup, and have it run through a distributor block in the rear to split into both amps (it'll go 8gauge to the amps)..
on my old ranger, i ran 4 cerwin 6x8's, and a single rockford HE 10" off of a single 600watt rockford amp.. it was the cheating way but it got me by... and it was fairly clean.. i've since taken the amp and sub and transfered em to my z28 and ran em off of a lineconverter off the stock deck for now.. sounds even better.. with $2k you can do a killer setup... best recommendation is find someone who enjoys doing this.. (people like myself) and buy him somethin for his ride or a few cases of beer and let him do an install for you.. not saying car install places suck, but someone who's done an install in a stang before, their own preferably, can give you the best tips and will be the most careful with your car...
sorry 'bout the length <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I have 2 Kicker 10in L7s and a 1400Watt amp, and it sounds better than most 12in subs that i have heard. The Kickers cost a little more but with $2,000 you can get a nice set up

IMHO 15s are overkill, and trunk space in a mustang is limited. I went with 2 12s in my T/A and I really think that one would have been enough, acoustics are not quite as good in a stang though. First invest in a good head unit and sub amplifier, most of the subs made now adays are great (assuming you pay more than $99 for a 12) The clarity and sound quality mostly comes from your amp/ head unit. Invest in a head unit with three sets of pre-amp outs that are at least 4V. Then a good amp, I like Precision Power, Rockford, Phoenix Gold or MTX. If I had it to do over I would do 1 12, so I would reccomend 1 or 2 12s depending on how nasty loud you want it to sound. You can try running the factory front speakers for a while, but then you will probably want to upgrade to a set of component speakers up front and a set of Co-ax in the back, for these speakers I like Boston Acoustics but there are a lot of other good ones. Hope this helps.

Re: Wonderin what to put in. . .
Look into the Phoenix Gold X-max 12's. My old room mate got an entire Phoenix old setup with 2 12's for right around 2K. I think he went to sounddomain.com. Not sure though. I'll drop him an e-mail and see if I can't find out for you. Phoenix Gold is really the way to go for the money you'v got.
BTW... where about's do you go to school in Arlington? I grew up there and went to Bowie High School. Then I had to get stupid and join the Navy.
Hope this helps.
