Default dash gauges not working

i removed the needles from the dash gauges on a '99 silverado in order to install a new dash display kit. i put the needles back on the gauges after i was done and the needles do not move or work when the truck is turned on. do i have to align the needles up accurately in order to get them to work?

Before you took the needles off did you see where they were sitting? When you put the needles back on you have to put them back in the exact spot they were when they were taken off to get a accurate reading of your gauges. When putting the needles back on make sure you didnt push them on too hard, otherwise they will either not move at all or they will slowly jump up and down. check that out and see if that helps. When you do put the needles back on the cluster place them on with very little force, just enough that they wont fall off and you should be fine. If not take the car to get the cluster re calibrated.
