Toggle switch in ashtray?

Toggle switch in ashtray? I have a 2000 model T/A, I just found a switch in my ashtray! It's a very small toggle switch. Is this from the factory? I can find no mention of it in the owner's manual. (I bought the car used)

Re: Toggle switch in ashtray? Yeah, I tried that with the key on and nothing happened. I have the console out putting in a new shifter right now(that's how I found it[non-smoker!]) so once I put it back together I'll be able to see for sure if it does anything. <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

Re: Toggle switch in ashtray? Have you tried following the wire to see where it goes? That might give you the best clue as to what it was used for. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: Toggle switch in ashtray? It could have been used for a line lock. I have seen alot of people put the toggle in the ashtray before. Look under your hood and see if there is an existing line that looks like your ABS lines coming out of the box. You might have a line lock and not no it.

Well, I finally got around to tracing down my mysterious switch, it was wired to the fuse box(ignition), and grounded, then it went up the window pillar, and exited where the sunvisor attaches(the wire was cut here). Maybe the previous owner had gauges, or just put his radar detector on a switch? Oh well, no hidden existing NOS as I had hoped to find! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> .(jk)
