Default In theory.... ???

Alright, lets say you've worked hard on your F-body and have it tweaked just the way you want it. You're proud of it and love it as if it were your own child (which I know you do <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ). Now your girlfriend or wife wants you to take her out to a nice dinner in your pimpin ride. What do you think that valet is gonna do when he gets his hands on a 400+ horsepower camaro? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> I've seen what they do to Hondas... the thought personally scares me. Does anyone think there is a way to set up a "valet switch" that tells the computer to limit the performance on the car? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.... <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

older zr1 corvettes had two fuel rail systems, one that ran the engine at a minimum and one that let the car tear ***. it was operated by a key inside the car.

that's a cool idea.. what I'm actually thinking of is something that woudl not only modify the rpm limiter but also modify the power curve... basically something to make the car driveable but sluggish to anyone who doesn't know the code or trick

Actually ther is something of that nature out there. It will limit how fast the car will go in MPH and RPM's. I heard about this a while back but can't remember wher it was. try doing a search on it, I'm sure you will find something.

I don't know of the system, but should you find it, here's a neat way to hide the switch. I did this for a customer who didn't want the valet dude to blast his $4,500 stereo and bust speakers. If you don't smoke in the car, wire the switch up to yhe cigarrete lighter. When the cigarrete lighter button is pushed in, you have a closed circuit. When the lighter is popped out, or removed, you have a open circuit. You could use a SPDT relay to change the function of it if you needed to (Open circuit pushed in, Closed out). This way you don't have to hide switches anywhere, and you could remove the cigarrete lighter plug with you into the restaraunt, and the valet wouldn't be able bypass this at all. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
