Default DAMN power window motor is dead!

Ok guys is there a good replacement motor for our power windows? I had the motors replaced on my 00 WS6 under warranty and the service dept. scratched the **** out of my window tint. Thats tells me this jobs isn't very easy. My old 98 cobra had AWESOME window motors. Is there anyway to use the ford window motors on our cars? My 99 SS's windows will hardly go down, or up for that matter. I don't see replacing them with the same GM motor because they will just go bad again. For christs sake my SS only has 19k on it and never driven in the winter. Anyone have a good write up on window motor installation? I checked with my GM store and they said my cost(I work for a BMW dealership who has a GM store too) would be about $300 to install new motors. I think it could be done for much cheaper.

Would you happen to have the part number for the window motor? Is the NAPA motor the Seimens? Thanks.

On the AutoZone website, they list the window motors for $74.99 (part # WL42014 for the Siemen's brand). They listed another brand also, but it was still $74.99. I thought the Siemen's brand was around $50? Are the prices on the website just listed higher, or did the price just go up? Thanks.

I installed a siemens window motor from autozone this weekend. 49.95 no core charge, lifetime warranty. It is faster than when the car was new and was very EASY to install. I was ready for a real fight but it is really simple....

P.S. The siemens motor from Autozone is a NEW motor. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> The Napa and O'reilly units are rebuilt GM units..... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Are these aftermarket motors using the GM electrical connector? Does the Autozone motor supply mounting hardware?

I helped a friend replace his driver's side unit. The rivets holding it in place are made by Huck/Cherry. They are an aircraft quality rivet. The replacement motor came with screws to replace the drilled rivets. The motor was a remanufactured unit, redone in Mexico. The connectors did connect right up to the factory connectors. I think he paid, at the time, about $75. We did have to do some drilling though.

I am going through this right now - what a pain this is . I actually drilled the wrong rivets - duh. I couldn't believe they actually meant drill through the door panel and then remove the rivets - so, someone asked for part number - it is the same for driver and passenger and from the dealer (I now - stupid me - the next one will be from Advance) it is 88960088 and the rivets if you drill the wrong ones (Ha ha - keep laughing funny boys) is 10157547.
