How much Dynamat for entire car?
How much Dynamat for entire car? This is not for a stereo application, my car is just to loud. I run LT headers, and ORY with a cutout open all the time. To loud on the inside, perfect on the outside. I'd like to lay dynamat down before I put in my new carpet to help quiet down the interior. How much will I need to cover the interior? The hatch section does NOT need to be covered, just the passenger compartment areas. Where's the best online supplier and how much should I expect to be paying? Thanks
There are better things out there for that than Dynamat, that are sheaper too. Most of them are liquid based and you brush them on to get better coverage. Someone here knows what I'm talking about and will post up.

You can actually buy the dynamatt in the spray on stuff too. Just google "Spray sound deadening" or something along the lines of that, "spray soundproofing" and you'll get a bunch of stuff. I was going to go that route, but Dynamatt has been proven to work...so i went with that.
The spray products can also be somewhat hit or miss based upon odor and other factors. Though it may well be more expensive I would stick with a well-reviewed product rather than take the risk of your car stinking every time it's hot.

Are you worried about speed. Remember you'll basically be negating any added gains from the cutout with the added weight of the deadener. Probably surpass them. Maybe get a free-er flowing exhaust like a Magnaflow, Rumbler, Loudmouth (if you want real loud) or such.
Yea I'm somewhat concerned about speed. Once I finish up the appearance this winter I'll begin building my motor. I highly doubt that the 50lb difference will make much difference with a built 408 and a direct port 300 shot. This car is daily driven so interior comfort comes first. If I pull a 10.2 instead of 10.1 I won't cry to bad as long as I can talk on my phone while driving on the highway (which I can't do now...). So you all are saying go with the Dynamatt pads and not the spray? Any idea how much it'll take to cover? Thanks

The problem will be the resonation under the car. The rear ttop space resonates bad as well as the rear fender wells behind the driver and passenger. I wish I would have taken pics but I soundproofed pretty much the whole car even stuffing foam behind where the sail panel speakers go and sealed those chamber up. Made a good bit of difference. I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make to just do the passenger compartment. I used edead but there are a lot of sound deadeners out there. B-Quiet, second skin, etc. You'll probably want to start off with 100 square feet. That should do from the firewall to the tail lights. Then you can rap the metal in various areas and find out if you want to double up in any areas. I also noticed that my doors are rock solid after deadening them but I doubt you will want to go there.

You can get carpet that's got a rubber backing that's supposed to deaden sound. I haven't tried it but am thinking about it. I used the dynamat type stuff just on the backmost hatch area - it made some difference but not enough, and it's too much of a pita for me to do the whole car, but doing the carpet might be a lot easier.

i ordered this, i will give details after ive installed it, but i would rather do this then pay over 200 bucks for the actual material, im sure 1 gallon is enough for atleast the front area. if i have any left over im gonna do the trunk too.
