Default Just bought a Alpine CDA-9833

And... I'm wondering if the SPS-170A speakers would still be a good choice for the doors. Also I was wondering if I could ditch the hatch speakers and throw another set of SPS-170A's in the sail panels. I'm open to any suggestions

Thanks, Tim

Edit: I believe my best choice would be to bypass the monsoon amp correct?

I would suggest components in the front and moving your other speakers to the sail panels and bypassing the monsoon amp with a better one. By the way I have this headunit in my other ride and so far I like it.

Why not just power the speakers off the HU? The 9833 has a bigger internal amp which is why I bought it. As for component speakers would the Type-S SPS171A do the job?

The Alpine CDA-9833 is a very nice HU with a lot of options that are no longer offered by Alpine. As far as using the HU Amp, it is rated at 26 Watts RMS which is not bad. If you are picky about the way things sound, the HU amp will not do. For most people, the HU power will be suffice if you are putting together a basic system. Also, it takes more power to run the amp and can degrade the SQ a little. The SPS-170A's make good stock replacements and they are limited since they are a coaxial system. The componets will sound better than the coaxials but, more clean power will make they even better. You can get nice deals on 2 channels amps in the 50-75 Watts RMA class. I am putting 75 Watts RMS to my Alpine Componets and they are loud and clear. Just depends on how much money you want to put into it.

Look into a nice 4 channel amp that will power all ot the speakers. If you are going to add a sub maybe a nice 5 channel. I have a 6 channel amp running my two front compnents, saile panel speakers and two 10" subs.

Honestly I just want something with clean bass and Clear sound. I am going to add a stealth box later on.

The steathbox will be a good choice later on. Then, you will want to power the front speakers with an external amp and turn the power IC off for the HU. Get a nice set of componets and you be pleased with the sound.

Well if you want to stick with alpine all of the way around then these are the two I came across.

Alpine Type-S SPS171A

Alpine Type-R SPR-17LS
