I can tell you that you should not buy this if you have an Alpine 9857 and an 02 Camaro. Even with the rear radio bracket removed the radio hits the air vents in the back. I had to go with the 1/2" extension kit and ditch the HUmount. I'll be selling mine after the holidays. Nice unit but just would not work for me.

Even though it's a 9851... it's still possible and very easy.

I removed the bracket as I said in my original post and the RCA's still got crushed up against the air vent. I've been putting stereos in cars for 20 years and this WOULD NOT FIT! The fan on the back was pressed up against the vents as well. I'm glad your 9851 fits but my 9857 with 3 sets of RCA's did not, at least not correctly.
