ipod adapters in a 99 camaro not working??
ipod adapters in a 99 camaro not working?? ok check this out i bought one for my bird and a adapter for my camaro both have monsson setup the one in the bird works great and the other one does too but i cant get either one to work in the camaro??? anybody else had this problem i push the aux button and nothing happens the unit i was planning to put in it was a Peripheral iPod adapter and the other in the bird is a usa spec ipod interface and like i said i tried both in the bird and they both work fine what gives anybody know ????

If you have a CD head unit in the 99 Camaro then it probably isn't compatible with a CD changer - which means it isn't compatible with the adapter either. CD head units didn't get changer capability until late in the 99 model year so yours is probably an early model. The only way to tell for sure is to open up the head unit and look at the code stamped on the CD drive circuit board.

You can usually find Monsoon head units for sale in the parts for sale section here for under $100 so it's not particularly expensive to upgrade.
so just to clarify (im noew to f-bodys) i have an 01 z28 with monsoon, and i want to add the ipod adaptor, i can? i looked at the back of the deck but wasnt sure that the changer plug was back there. something was plugged into it already, what would that be?

All Monsoon systems came with the CD changer harness installed regardless of whether a changer was installed. That's the harness you see plugged into the back of the head unit.
