First of all...change it out with what? What year/model car are we talking about?

Second...why? What do you gain by changing the entire column?

I don't think the electrical connectors are much of a problem if you're talking about putting a 2000 column in another 4th-generation f-body. I'm not so sure about the mechanical end of it.

Okay, you still didn't say what you're swapping it into. If it's a 97-99 Camaro, the ignition cylinder is the same so it should be easy to swap the ignition cylinder from the old column into the new one. That way you wouldn't have to worry about changing ignition keys or BCM (for the VATS resistor). Make sure you get a column from a vehicle with the same transmission - the column in an automatic is different from the one in a manual.

Not sure...almost all of the column parts are the same from 97 thru 02 but for some reason the ignition cylinder is a different part number for 02 than for the other years. That doesn't mean that it won't fit because the part number may have changed for some internal difference - but I can't say for sure.

There are a few other differences between the years (wiper/washer switch changed in 00, trim cover changed in 01, ...) but the ignition cylinder is the only one that would seem to affect swapping in a newer column.
