Default Security light?

Hey everyone!! i just got my PCM back from the tuner, i had him disable the Vats, but the security light is still on. It was on before i tuned it, but i can't figure out why. I put a new CD player in, and it comes on when i turn that on, and goes off when i turn the cd player off with the key off. If anyone knows how to disable this light cool...The car still starts and drives, but i don't like that light.

Another thing, how do i get my aftermarket H/U to turn off when i open the door like stock. My Kenwood did it, but the new Sony won't. Got any clues?????

The security light is controlled by the BCM - not the PCM. So although you may have had the PCM programmed to ignore the VATS signal from the BCM, the light is still activated. You can buy and install a VATS bypass kit or you can bypass it with a few cents worth of resistors.

Yeah, you've probably got your hot and ignition-controlled wires reversed. Make sure you connect the head unit's accessory (ignition) power to the yellow wire of the factory harness.

ok, according to the install instructions it says to connect the red and yellow power leads to the power wire. I did that, but when it says to connect the red wire to the accry wire do so. How do i do that if it tells me to connect both the red and yellow together...I've done it where i connect just the yellow off H/U to car yellow, Red off H/U to yellow wire and either way it won't power up. Only if i have the Red, and Yellow off H/U tied together to the Car yellow wire.

I'm not sure which colors are which on your particular head unit. What you want to do is connect the head unit wire that is labeled "ignition" or "accessory" to the yellow wire in the car. Then you connect the wire labeled "constant" or "battery" to the orange wire in the car. Both wires need to be connected but not to each other or to the same vehicle wire - they each have different purposes.

i just tried that and nothing...here are the instructions that came with H/U...

1. Connect the ground (earth)lead-black wire, the connect the yellow and red power supply leads.

2. Antenna-got that right,

3. Amp Remote in- got that hooked up to my amps

4. Car telephone interface-don't have

5. Cars illumination signal- Hooked up

6. To the +12v power terminal which is energized in the accessory position of the ignition switch
--Notes if there is no accry position connected to the +12v power (battery) terminal which is energized at all times. Make sure ground is hooked up first.
--When your car has a built in fm/am antenna (aerial) in the rear/side glass, see"notes on the control and power supply leads."

Notes on the control and power supply leads
-the power antenna (aerial) control lead supplies +12v DC when you turn on the tuner.
-when your car has built in fm/am antenna(aerial) control lead (blue) or the accry power supply lead(red) to the power terminal of the existing antenna (aerial) booster. For details, consult your dealer.

the wires i have hooked up per diagram are the:

Ground-Black to black from car
Light blue- ATT to blue from car
Red-? to the yellow wire from car
Yellow-? to the yellow wire from car
Orange wire from car is not hooked up, I've tried it both ways and nothing.
Blue wire from H/U not hooked up--does it need to be?

Memory hold connection- When the yellow power supply is connected, power will always be supplied to the memory circuit even when teh ignition switch is turned off.

The car is a 97 Trans am...

Okay, "connect the red and yellow power supply leads" does not mean to each other. From your description I gather the head unit's yellow wire is the memory hold connection - it needs to connect to the orange wire in the car. Leave the head unit's red wire connected to the car's yellow wire. This is the proper way to wire that head unit. If it doesn't work then look for some other problem. For example, if there's no power on the car's orange wire (check it with a test light or multimeter) then you've probably blown the PWR ACCY fuse sometime during installation.
